Kate Middleton and Prince William’s U.S. expansion reveals why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are sidelined by sponsors and Hollywood stars.

The Royal Foundation was founded jointly by the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex back in 2009

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have suffered a fresh blow as Princess Kate and Prince William raised an eye-watering sum from US donors, according to accounts published this week by the Charity Commission.

The Royal Foundation, founded jointly by William and Prince Harry back in 2009 but headed by William and Kate alone since 2019, saw its income hit £8million.

This comes after the Prince of Wales, 42, raised a whopping £22.5million in 2023 by The Earthshot Prize.

These new figures form part of the foundation’s first annual report since it ceased to administer The Earthshot Prize, which became a separate charity in 2022.

A staggering £6.5million of William and Kate’s foundation’s income came from donations alone, including £1.7million from US-based supporters.

As a result, the Prince and Princess of Wales have eclipsed the donations made to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Archewell Foundation, which the Montecito-based couple founded in 2020 after stepping down as working royals.

Harry and Meghan have lived in California for the past four years.

However, donations to their foundation recently plunged from £10.3million to less than £1.6million.

This is according to Archewell’s most recently published accounts.

Harry, 39, and Meghan, 43, left the Royal Foundation in 2019, which coincided with their move to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

The Sussexes formerly lived on the grounds of Kensington Palace, which made them neighbours with William and Kate.

Despite leaving the Royal Foundation five years ago, the Duke of Sussex still receives some financial benefits.

This is due to his half share in the income the foundation receives from the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

That share amounted to £7,073 last year and was sent by the Foundation to Sentebale, Harry’s charity for African orphans.

Sentebale is a registered charity founded in 2006 by Prince Harry and Prince Seeiso of Lesotho.

The charity helps children and adolescents struggling to come to terms with their HIV and AIDS diagnosis.

The impact and influence of charitable foundations within the Royal Family continue to be a topic of interest and discussion. The Royal Foundation, established by Prince William and Prince Harry in 2009, has seen remarkable success in fundraising efforts, with an income of £8million in its latest report. This success can be attributed to the dedication and commitment of Prince William and Princess Kate, who have taken the foundation to new heights since Prince Harry’s departure in 2019.One particularly impressive achievement is the £6.5million raised through donations, including a substantial contribution of £1.7million from supporters in the United States. This highlights the global reach and appeal of the Royal Foundation’s mission and initiatives. On the other hand, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation has experienced a decline in donations, dropping from £10.3million to less than £1.6million. This significant difference in fundraising results demonstrates the varying levels of support and engagement for different charitable causes.Despite the distance and separation between the Sussexes and the Cambridges, Prince Harry continues to have a positive impact through his involvement with the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. His contribution of £7,073 to Sentebale, a charity he co-founded to support African orphans affected by HIV and AIDS, showcases his ongoing commitment to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable communities. The success of charitable foundations within the Royal Family not only highlights the importance of philanthropy and social responsibility but also underscores the power of unity and collaboration in addressing pressing issues. By supporting these foundations and their initiatives, individuals can contribute to meaningful change and create a brighter future for those in need.
