Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Chief of Staff Abruptly Leaves After Just Three Months: The Potential Effects on Their Upcoming Trip to Colombia and Future Strategies.

Prince Harry and his new chief of staff have parted ways.

The Duke of Sussex’s chief of staff, Josh Kettler, has left his position after three months, PEOPLE understands.

Hired on a trial basis, the decision to part ways was mutual, with both sides agreeing it wasn’t the right fit.

Kettler, who started in his role just a week before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s official visit to Nigeria in May.

Also accompanied the Duke of Sussex on his trip to London to mark the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Based in Santa Barbara, Calif., Kettler was previously chief of staff and head of strategic partnerships at the communication platform Cognixion.

The news comes less than two weeks after Francia Márquez, Colombia’s vice president and the first Black woman to hold the position, announced that Prince Harry, 39, and Meghan, 43, will visit Colombia in the future. Dates for the trip have not been released yet.

“As the Vice President of Colombia and Minister of Equality and Equity, I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have kindly accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country,” Márquez said in a statement.

The visit will include stops in Colombia’s capital city, Bogotá, as well as Cartagena and Cali.

“In these vibrant locations, they will have the exceptional opportunity to engage with leaders, youth, and women who embody the aspirations and voices of Colombians committed to progress,” Márquez added. “In addition to these meaningful interactions, the Duke and Duchess will experience the rich heritage of Colombia.”

The trip to South America will be Prince Harry and Meghan’s second official international trip since they moved to the U.S. and settled in California in 2020. During the trip to Nigeria, they highlighted their Archewell Foundation’s mental health initiatives for young people and promoted the Invictus Games.

In Colombia, their focus will be the Archewell Foundation’s promotion of safer digital environments before the country hosts the first World Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence Against Children in November.

“The conference will present a global framework for creating safer physical and virtual spaces, addressing issues such as cyberbullying, online exploitation and the impact of these threats on mental health,” Márquez said in her statement. “It will offer practical solutions and commitments for countries around the world. During their visit, the Duke and Duchess, as well as the Archewell Foundation, will take part in a number of activities related to this important topic.”

Prince Harry and his team are once again on the hunt for a new chief of staff, following the departure of Josh Kettler after just three months in the role. The decision to part ways was an amicable one, with both parties agreeing that it was not the right fit for either side. Kettler, who previously served as chief of staff and head of strategic partnerships at Cognixion, joined Prince Harry shortly before his official visit to Nigeria and accompanied him on a trip to London to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. While the search for a new chief of staff continues, Colombia’s Vice President, Francia Márquez, has announced that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be visiting Colombia in the near future. This will be the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s second official international trip since relocating to California in 2020. The visit will include stops in Bogotá, Cartagena, and Cali, where they will engage with local leaders, youth, and women who are working towards progress and positive change in the country.During their time in Colombia, Prince Harry and Meghan will focus on promoting safer digital environments as part of their Archewell Foundation’s initiatives. This comes ahead of the first World Ministerial Conference on the Elimination of Violence Against Children, which Colombia will host in November. The conference aims to address issues such as cyberbullying, online exploitation, and the impact of these threats on mental health, offering practical solutions and commitments from countries around the world. As they continue their important work promoting mental health initiatives and advocating for safer online spaces, Prince Harry and Meghan are dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities they visit.
