Selena Gomez has shared a surprising reason for not planning a wedding with Benny Blanco despite their ‘wedding rings’: “I’m still affected by my secret wedding with Justin, which is why I’m avoiding a public ceremony.”

Selena Gomez and her rumored fiancé Benny Blanco held hands as they made their way inside the 42nd Annual Malibu Chili Cook-Off on Monday.

The inseparable couple – who began dating in June 2023 – attempted incognito but wound up standing out among the beach crowd due to their black disposable face masks.

The 32-year-old Emmy nominee bared her arms in a white halter flounce top over baggy eyelet harem pants and animal-print slides.

Selena scraped her brunette mane back with a pink cozy headband and she was not wearing that suspicious gold band on her left-ring finger.

Gomez patiently waited with their two tall bodyguards as the 36-year-old music producer went through the metal detector and his belongings were screened by security.

The Selena + Restaurant producer-host and Benny are both big foodies so they were likely excited to check out the chili contest and curated mix of local restaurants stationed at the Boys & Girls Club benefit.

Blanco (born Benjamin Levin) showcased his relaxed, eccentric style in a white-and-yellow knit bucket hat, green short-sleeve button-up, khakis, and green slides.

The four-day event also offered carnival rides, a daily bubble hour, skate contest, 24ft-high rock wall, and 21+ Town & Country Lounge.

Other celebs spotted attending the Malibu Chili Cook-Off this weekend were Jamie Foxx, Christian Bale, Addison Rae, Gene Simmons, Damien Chazelle, Jamie Mazur, Bijou Phillips, Candace Parker, Kevin Connolly, North West, and Amber Rose.

On Sunday, the 11-time Grammy nominee posted a most-likely couples quiz on TikTok during which they agreed on practically all of the answers despite having their eyes closed.

Selena and Benny both considered the other the ‘better kisser’ with ‘better style’ but they did not answer ‘whose mother-in-law likes them more’ as they are not yet married.

Gomez said ‘I love you’ first, needs the most attention, and was most likely to get arrested while Blanco is the funnier one, the better cook, and he takes the longest to get ready.

The two-time Grammy nominee and the curly-haired musician had no answer for which of them starts the most arguments and which of them was the most spoiled.

Selena – who follows CMG Weddings & Events on TikTok – put pink heart emojis over what fans assumed was her engagement ring in an August 30 Instastory four weeks after DeuxMoi claimed they got engaged while ‘surrounded by friends at their usual beach house hang out.’

When Howard Stern said he predicted marriage for Benny and Gomez back in May, he replied: ‘You and me both…I gotta get my act together!’

As for children, Blanco announced: That’s like my next goal on the box. I have a lot of God kids, I’ve got a ton of nephews. It’s my thing, I love being around kids!’

The Open Wide author co-wrote and produced the ‘Texican’ pop star’s 2023 song Single Soon, which peaked at No. 19 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

But Selena – who previously dated Drew Taggart, The Weeknd, and Justin Bieber – has technically been collaborating with Benny as far back as 2015 on her second studio album Revival.

Gomez is said to earn well over $600K/episode to produce and portray the Arconia resident and artist Mabel Mora in the 10-episode fourth season of Only Murders in the Building, which currently airs Tuesdays on Hulu.

The former Disney Channel star will compete for the outstanding lead actress in a comedy series trophy at the 76th Primetime Emmy Awards, which air September 15 on ABC.

Selena faces heavy competition against Abbott Elementary’s Quinta Brunson, The Bear’s Ayo Edebiri, Loot’s Maya Rudolph, Hacks’ Jean Smart, and Palm Royale’s Kristen Wiig.

Gomez scored the Cannes best actress prize for her role as Jessi Del Monte, a transgender Mexican cartel leader’s wife, in Jacques Audiard’s critically-acclaimed queer crime musical Emilia Pérez hitting select theaters November 1 before streaming November 13 on Netflix.

The Rare Beauty founder is also prepping to portray 11-time Grammy winner Linda Ronstadt in David O. Russell’s untitled biopic produced by her former manager John Boylan.
